Terms of Service

These terms are a placeholder draft. Final wording will be published following review by an admitted attorney (see docs/legal/legal-review-checklist.md). Until that review is complete, Appventure One is not generally available.

1. The service

Appventure One ("the Service") is a self-service tax and accounting application provided by Appventure (Pty) Ltd. The Service helps you prepare bookkeeping records, management reports, and tax returns. You remain responsible for reviewing the outputs and for submitting any tax return to SARS via eFiling yourself. The Service does not submit on your behalf.

2. Not financial advice

The Service is a preparation tool. It is not a financial advisory service and it does not provide advice in terms of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 2002. It does not recommend financial products. It is not an accountable institution in terms of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, 2001. It is not a registered tax practitioner in terms of section 240A of the Tax Administration Act, 2011.

3. Subscription

The Service is billed on a monthly subscription basis in South African Rand (ZAR), per active module, through Paystack. A 14-day free trial is included with every new entity. Cancellation is effective at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for unused portions of a paid month, except where required by the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.

4. Your data

You retain ownership of the data you upload. We process your data as described in our Privacy Policy. You may export your data at any time via Settings → Data Export. On cancellation, you retain 30 days of read-only access before your data is soft-deleted; thereafter, we retain compliance-relevant records for the periods stated in our privacy policy.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use the Service to process personal information of data subjects who have not authorised such processing, to attempt to breach tenant isolation, to reverse-engineer classification models, or to submit materially false information to SARS. We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.

6. Warranties and liability

The Service is provided "as is". We calibrate our tax calculations against the SARS legislation in force and publish a SARS version lock on every output. You remain responsible for reviewing the output and for submitting any return. Our aggregate liability is limited to the subscription fees you have paid in the 12 months preceding the claim, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the High Court of South Africa, Western Cape Division, Cape Town.

8. Changes

We may revise these terms from time to time. Material changes trigger an email + in-app banner for at least 30 days.
